Direct Sales

MMCZ markets directly in some regional and international markets e.g. Diamonds to Belgium, India, Dubai, RSA; coal products into Zambia RSA and DRC, Ferrochrome in Italy; Chilled pool Iron in South Africa, Prime Steel to various regional markets and Chrome Concentrates to South Africa and China.

Agent Sales

The Corporation engages the services of marketing Agents for the following reasons:

  • Trade financing
  • To overcome language, geographical and cultural barriers
  • Consolidation of materials for economies of scale

Some determinant factors on the sales ability of minerals are:

  1. Volume
  2. Quality of the mineral
  3. Price of the mineral
  4. Place of Sales

Documentation Required Prior to Exporting:

  • Mining license
  • Export license
  • Quality certificate/assay certificate/ evaluation certificate
  • Proof of Incorporation under the Companies Act of Zimbabwe
  • Zimra Tax Clearance
  • Sales Contract (Sales agreement) to contain all terms and conditions of the sale – quantity, price, basis, delivery, payment.

Details necessary for a complete sales export transaction:

Export sales are done only pursuant to a tripartite sales agreement between the producer, MMCZ and the customer. As an agent for mineral sales, MMCZ requires the following for export documentation and completion of export sales transactions (MMCZ Act, Chapter 21:04 section 43):

Exporter Details (Mineral Supplier Information)

  • Name and address of exporter
  • Contact person(s)
  • Contact details
  • Export permit
  • Authorisation by RBZ
  • Bank details
  • Proof of payment
  • Authorisation to deduct commission and royalties

Purchaser/Customer Details

  • Name and address of buyer
  • Contact person(s)
  • Contact details
  • Delivery address

Product/Mineral Details

  • Type/ name of mineral(s)
  • Mineral(s) specifications
  • Quantity/ volume of mineral(s)
  • Details of any contractual arrangements on sales of the minerals(s)
  • Price/ price indications
  • Claim registration number

Other Export Details

  • Place/port of dispatch
  • Place/port of discharge
  • Mode of transportation to place/port of discharge
  • Mode of payment (Prepayment before dispatch/ credit/ LC)

The sales and marketing process is as follows:

  • Preparation of minerals
  • Sampling of mineral consignment
  • Analysis of samples /evaluation of consignment
  • Export documentation
  • Receipt of export proceeds
  • Dispatch of mineral consignment
  • Acquittal of CDI
