MMCZ donates to Cyclone Idai victims in a big way

Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) donated goods worth over $200,000 towards victims of cyclone Idai which ravaged the eastern parts of the country resulting in loss of life and property, leaving thousands of people distressed and homeless.

On Friday the 29th of March 2019, the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Honourable Mhlanga received the items which included  2,000 2 ply double and single blankets, 3 tonnes beans, 5 tonnes mealie meal, 1 tonne rice, 2,000 litres cooking oil, 8,000 litres water, 1,000 green laundry bars and reusable sanitary pads.  These were handed over by the Deputy of Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, Honourable P kambamura.

As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and a call to assist victims by the government following the Cyclone Idai effects , MMCZ responded well by donating these goods to assist the fellow citizens considering that the incident was declared a national disaster.

The batch of donations were dispatched from the MMCZ warehouse and sent to Chikomba and Mutare using Swift trucks which MMCZ hired. The goods were handed over to the Civil Protection Unit authorities coordinating the relief in affected areas.

MMCZ joined the nation in charitable work to support victims of Cyclone Idai that largely affected the eastern provinces.
